Privacy Policy

How we collect information

The public section of our websites are primarily information websites that tell you about Esys and our products and services.  You do not need to provide any personal information if you simply want to browse the public section of our websites and learn about our products and our services.  When we ask for your personal information, it is so that we can provide a service to you and to communicate with you about our products and services.  For example, if you want to receive more information about our services, supply us with your contact information and we will use it to respond to your request.  If you want to apply for a position, submit your resume and we will consider it for employment purposes.  It will always be your choice whether to provide your personal information for these purposes.

When you visit our sites, we may record information that your web browser routinely shares with websites.  This information may include your browser type, browser language, software and hardware attributes, the date and time of your visit, the website from which you came, the geographical location of the Internet Protocol address and the pages on our sites that you visit.  This will generally be anonymous data that we collect on an aggregate basis.  We will not try to associate anonymous data with your personal information.

If you access our websites using a mobile device, we may also collect information that your mobile device routinely shares with websites.  This will generally be the same as with a computer, but it may also include geographic location information, if you have enabled such sharing on your device.

We may allow visitors to post comments on our websites.  If you decide to post a comment, keep in mind that your comments may be seen by anyone visiting our sites and will be treated as public information.

Private sections of the esysautomation.com website are only available to select customers who have been given a username and password, and our employees.  In order to establish access to the private section of our site as a customer, we require personal information associated with your account.  This will generally include your name, the company that you work for and your contact information.  Employees may access the private section of the site subject to our employment policies.

Use of Cookies and Similar Technology

As is commonly done on websites, we may use cookies and similar technology to keep track of our users and the services they have elected.  A “cookie” is a small text file containing alphanumeric characters that is stored on your computer and uniquely identifies your browser.  If you are simply browsing on our websites, the cookies that we use last only about as long as your session on our websites; but if you have created a user name and account, we will also use cookies that remain on your computer between visits so that when you return to our site we can remember who you are and your preferences.  We may allow business partners who provide services to our sites to place cookies on your computer that assist us in analyzing usage data.  We do not allow these business partners to collect your personal information from our websites except as may be necessary for the services that they provide.

You can manage these cookies.  For example, you can configure your browser to accept all cookies, reject all cookies, or notify you when a cookie is set.  If you disable cookies, however, it may interfere with the functionality of our sites and you may not be able to use all of the sites’ features.

We may also use web beacons or similar technology to help us track the movement of our visitors across our sites and the effectiveness of our communications.  For example, if you have signed up to receive any of our e-mail newsletters, we use technology that allows us to see how many recipients have opened the message and clicked on one of its links.

What We Do With the Information We Collect

We will generally use the information that we collect to provide requested services and to monitor and analyze visitor activity on our websites.  The following provides a more specific discussion of our uses and disclosures of the information that we collect.

Your contact information

When you provide us with your contact information, we will use that information to provide the requested services.  For example, if you submit a job application through one of our websites, we will share that information with our Human Resources department, which will use the information to contact candidates for our open positions.  If you submit your name and telephone number or e-mail address because you are interested in our products and services, someone in our sales department will contact you to follow up on your interest.

Business information

If you use the private section restricted to our registered customers, we will use the information that you submit to provide services you have requested.  We may also contact the registered users of our sites about important functionality changes to the sites and to market our products and services and send you our newsletters.  You may opt out of our use for marketing, by sending a request to remove your contact information from our marketing distribution list here.

Information shared with our business partners

To improve our website services, we may use business partners to help us design and operate our websites or provide other services to support the sites.  For example, we may hire a company to run certain website applications or help us analyze our data.  When we use business partners, it will generally be on terms that prohibit them from making any independent commercial use of personal information, from sharing such data with third parties or from making the data publicly available.

Statistical analyses of data

We maintain a database about our customers and website users that allows us to (i) analyze and monitor consumer and customer activity, (ii) promote and support our products and services, and (iii) develop a knowledge base regarding our website users and customers.

We use Google Analytics to help us gather statistical information about the visitors on our sites and how they use the sites, but this is done on an anonymous, aggregate basis.  We will not associate this data with your personal information.  We use this information to gain a better understanding of the visitors to our sites and to improve our websites and product offerings.  We reserve the right to license or sell aggregate information about the visitors to our websites, but this information will not include your personal information. Business operations, law enforcement and legal actions

We may release your information without prior notice when we believe it is appropriate to prevent fraud; to comply with law or to cooperate with law enforcement activity or other governmental request; to respond to subpoenas, court orders or administrative agency requests for information; to enforce our policies; to protect the rights, property and safety of our business and of others; or when required by law. For example, we may share information with law enforcement to reduce the risk of fraud or if someone uses or attempts to use our sites for illegal reasons. If there is a sale or merger of the company, division or business unit that operates a site, we may also transfer the information we have collected through that site in connection with such sale or merger.

Safeguarding Your Data

We use commercially reasonable means to protect the integrity of our websites.  We limit access to your personal information to those who have a legitimate need to use the information.   If you have set up a username and profile, you should be sure to protect your user ID and password to prevent others from being able to access the site in your name.

Data integrity and retention

We use the information that we collect about you only for the purposes for which it is collected and consistent with this policy.  We keep information provided to us for as long as we believe necessary for our business purposes and as permitted by applicable law.

Changes to your information

If you are a registered user of one of our sites, and need to update any information that you have provided to us, you can contact us with the new information.  You may also request that we delete your information from our marketing databases.

Changes to this policy

Our business and the laws that regulate us change from time to time, and we reserve the right to change this policy.  If we do change this policy, we will post the revised version on our sites.  If we propose to change our policy in a material way that would permit us to make additional uses of information that we had previously collected about you, we will provide you with a meaningful way to opt out of those additional uses.

Children

While our sites are available for all to come visit, you must be an adult to become a registered user.  We will not knowingly collect information about children under the age of 13.  If you are under the age of thirteen, please do not submit your personal information.  If you are a parent who believes that we have collected information about a child under age 13, please contact us with your child’s name and address, and we will be happy to delete the information we have about your child from our records and provide information in accordance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act.
